Each year the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust offers opportunities for British Citizens to travel overseas to undertake study projects related to their trade profession or particular interest. Thus, they widen their experience, make contacts abroad and bring back knowledge to the United Kingdom to the benefit of their work, their community and the UK as a whole.
The attached leaflet and publicity poster gives you further information on the categories under which individuals can now apply for 2009 Fellowships. Travel and living expenses are all paid for, in 2008 the average grant was GBP£5,300 to cover an overseas visit of 4-8 weeks (4 weeks minimum). Further details of the work of the Trust are available on the Trust's website http://www.wcmt.org.uk/. For 2009, applications are open from the 2nd June until 14th October 2008, followed by a selection and interview process, with those successful informed by early February 2009 and travellinig thereafter in 2009.
Many people are unaware that these Travelling Fellowships are available to applicants of any age and from all walks of life, irrespective of academic or professional qualifications. The Fellowships allow individuals a unique opportunity, which they might now otherwise get, for personal development, taking a short sabbatical, overseas travel and to make a difference to their lives, by setting themselves a challenge and achieving it for the benefit of others.
